What differentiates BigCommerce from other similar products?

BigCommerce’s advantage over the other shopping carts is that it has extensive B2B features that are very useful for both B2B and B2C businesses. It provides sophisticated features like customer-driven pricing, branded catalogs, and quote engine. This enables businesses to build custom experiences for their B2B customers without the need of a different platform, which will reduce costs and gives a single view into managing B2B and B2C sales channels.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

BigCommerce’s multi-channel selling is my favorite part of the product. It works perfectly with online marketplaces, social media platforms and even POS devices. This omnichannel strategy allows merchants to be present everywhere, and sell where customers prefer to buy. The possibility to control inventory, orders, and customer information in a single dashboard regardless of the source of the sale is priceless for enterprises that seek a common brand experience and a unified presence.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The only bad thing about BigCommerce is the limited design options in the built-in theme editor. Although the platform comes with various professionally designed themes, you won’t be able to customize the themes beyond basic color and font settings without having some knowledge of programming. This restriction can be limiting for merchants that need to design a special brand identity or modify layout features without having to develop custom code or employ a designer.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

For any companies thinking about BigCommerce, I strongly advise to fully assess your scalability requirements over the long term. BigCommerce is a perfect solution for high-volume sales and product catalogs, making it a great option for a growing company or one looking to scale up rapidly. If you’re a small business with a narrow product line and no long-term expansion, you might be a bit blindsided by all the high-level features offered by BigCommerce.
