What differentiates Devolutions PAM from other similar products?

The capabilities of the product at the price level combined with ability to self-host or SaaS host. Many of the PAM solutions are more expensive unless bundled into a whole MSP/MSSP suite of products which likely costs more unless using the MSP/MSSP suite in addition to the PAM component. While if you are a MSP/MSSP/Provider this makes sense, for a business doing self-management or a consulting firm doing external access and management the additional products don't make sense. Devolutions on a dollar for feature/functional capability is not matched by any other PAM solution I have seen or looked at for adoption.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Granular security of access that allows someone to connect to a resource but not be able to see the credentials needed while also being able to hide entries, sets of entries, and whole branches from users who do not need to know about them. We have clients with differing security needs that don't always align with the staff servicing them. I can give a user access to a VPN and RDP connection but they do not have the actual credential so while they can connect and address the client need, they are limited since they cannot jump to another server unless they have access to that entry. Segregation of access without impeding ability to work.

What do you dislike most about this product?

It is powerful so it can be a bit of a resource hog and some users at our company need more support since they use it infrequently. They generally have a single client they work with and only need one set of credentials and I cannot force compliance. When they need something outside the small scope of what they are doing and I tell them it is in RDM, it likely means I have a support session to get their install updated and working.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Understand your deployment options for Team (multiple users) and if you want to self-host, SaaS, or IaaS. If not a team deployment then Develoutions has other hosting options. Know that the product has advanced a lot and the AnyIdentity feature is one of the most powerful and requested so understand how that changes privileged account management to just in time PAM for greater security. Review the MFA and basic security access options and make sure to pick one that is compatible with you organization since if someone can access the PAM they get the keys to many kingdoms, not just one, so secure it accordingly.

Even though the Devolutions PAM solution is absolutely great, it makes the product even greater because of the integration with other Devolution products. I highly recommend the Devolution products

AnyIdentity AnyIdentity layer allows customers to implement PowerShell scripts that can call any provider in order to offer PAM Capabilities.

Integration with SIEM Solutions Pre-baked easy to implement into to mainstream SIEM products.

Access Control Can provide fine-grained control to end user permission assignment. Supports RBAC, web password filler or other password hiding techniques.

Live Session Monitoring Records session for audit purposes.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Supports multi-factor device and app authentication for Administrators.

Forensic Investigation Capability PAM solution is able to give a 360° view of when the privileged account password was checked out and by whom, including all the actions that were taken.
