What differentiates CAST SBOM Manager from other similar products?

What sets CAST SBOM Manager apart, in my view, is its combination of automation and hands-on control. Unlike some tools that only generate a static SBOM, this one lets me edit, manage, and enrich the SBOM with custom data — much like maintaining an evolving recipe database. It’s also one of the few SBOM tools with a freemium model, which makes it accessible for smaller engineering teams that are just starting with SBOM practices.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Just like food labeling ensures transparency, the SBOM provides clear visibility into all software components — useful for compliance and quality audits.

What do you dislike most about this product?

It doesn’t easily connect with some of our manufacturing and quality management systems, so updating SBOMs automatically requires extra setup.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I’d recommend CAST SBOM Manager to any baking engineering company that’s starting to modernize its production equipment and wants to ensure software quality, traceability, and compliance. It’s especially useful if your baking machinery involves automation, sensors, or IoT systems where open-source software is used.
